Happy Face Hearts Potentilla is first-class hardy, incredibly tough but pretty Shrubby Cinquefoil with amazing flower power over a long bloom period. Beginning in late spring or early summer and continuing to mid fall, the 2 foot high and wide rounded mound of fuzzy green leaves features abundant apple blossom-like pretty flowers with pink petals surrounding a glowing white center and yellow stamens. Its diminutive size makes Happy Face Hearts a good selection as an accent in smaller garden spaces or groupings in landscape borders. An extremely cheerful and undemanding native plant with good drought tolerance when established. Deer, rabbits and harmful insects turn their nose up to it while butterflies and other beneficial pollinators enjoy the flowers all season long.

Shrubby Cinquefoil is very easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average to even low fertility in full sun to part shade. We suggest at least 6 hours of direct sunlight for best bloom and fullness. Does not like wet feet so plant in a well-drained site. Amend heavy clay or other compact soils to ensure good drainage. It is very drought tolerant when established. Pest and disease free and deer and rabbit tolerant. Plants can be trimmed lightly after flowers and any old stems can be removed to encourage new growth.
